The IP Phone 1140E uses the customer IP data network to communicate with the Communication Server 1000. The IP Phone 1140E translates voice into data packets for transport using Internet Protocol. A Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server can be used to provide information that enables the IP Phone 1140E network connection, and connection to the Communication Server 1000.
Combined with the rich telephony feature sets delivered from Nortel Communication and Voicemail Servers, deployment of the Nortel 1140E IP Phone enhances personal productivity with the delivery of a superior user experience for both today’s and tomorrow’s communications needs and has SIP support.
